TESTIMONICALS
"What a gorgeous restaurant this is. Food is perfectly prepared and presentation is excellent. Service is top notch. The prices you pay are high relative to what the locals eat but compared to what you are used to back home, this is a steal. You definitely need to come here if you are visiting Hanoi." John Parker in USA
" This was the most expensive meal we had in Hanoi - about 25% of an equivalent meal in London - and worth every dong. The portions are large and varied, with a reasonable range of vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere upstairs on the wooden balcony was just wonderful. We would recommend this to anyone. You need to book a day ahead." Laurence & Elise Buckman from London, UK

+ DRAGON PALACE RESTAURANT: Dragon Palace is the hottest New Chinese restaurant to hit Hanoi. Dine in the Gold Room or Silver Room for private functions. With 300 luxurious seats, we can handle the greatest of parties. Our honored guests are consistently impressed with the diversity of unique dish created by the resident Hong Kong Chef. The decor is rooted in Asian architecture. Hundreds of multicolored lanterns cast light on curtains of glittered silk, lending romance to Long Dinh's night atmosphere.

+ WILD RICE "LA LUA" RESTAURANT: Nothing about Lá Luá portends to be authentic Vietnamese; everything from the decor to the dining is in fact an amalgam of traditions and customs. The place looks like an upmarket L.A. bistro borrowing Japanese themes, with tall stands of bamboo encased in glass, slate floors, and bright white walls that shine with the mellow glow of indirect lighting. The food is good Vietnamese-influenced fare.

+ EMPEROR RESTAURANT: In a renovated French villa, the Emperor has what is arguably the most beautiful and romantic setting in all of Hanoi. A climb up the curved wooden staircase takes you into the elegant, high-ceiling Hue-temple-style dining room; downstairs the resident jazz band plays in the Emperor Pub. Among the beautifully presented dishes are seafood and Hue specialties, including delectable Hue spring rolls and banana-leaf-wrapped fish. AE, MC, V.

+ THE TEMPLE CLUB RESTAURANT: For atmosphere alone, the Temple Club is a must-see in Ho Chi Minh. As the name suggests, this is an old Chinese temple (ca. 1900), with original wood and masonry. Though it has gone upscale with recent renovations, that special air about the place remains. The ceiling is high, and the walls are exposed brick. The floor is terra cotta draped in antique throw rugs, and there are some great Buddhist tapestries and statuary about. There's a classic old wooden bar and a formal but comfortable dining room, as well as a lounge area in the back for coffee and dessert. The cuisine is standard Vietnamese from all parts of the country.
